ANNOUNCEMENT: EduColor and the TC Center on History and Education have received a major grant from the Spencer Foundation to support our work together in the HEAL (Histories of Education Action & Learning) Collaborative! Over the last few years, we’ve been building up an institute at the intersection of teacher learning and education activism, and we’re grateful that we’ll get to both research and learn more about how this might enhance new notions of teacher professionalism!
EduColor and TC-CHE share crucial commitments to:
· to take teachers seriously as thinkers, learners, and leaders in their classrooms and schools
· to work for educational justice and against racism, ableism, and other forms of injustice in schooling
· to learn from history to understand and combat ongoing educational inequality.
With this grant support, the HEAL Collaborative will:
– Offer Summer Institutes on Educational Activism in New York City for the next three summers
– Keep building our multigenerational teacher support network.
– Document and interpret what teachers learn in these spaces, and what difference it makes for them, and how that matters for teacher education.
Stay tuned for more updates as we move forward!
