Tell Our Story

When we first started ...

We sought to amplify the voices of educators of color into the design for what public education should look like in this unprecedented moment of racial justice and the recovery from the COVID-19 global pandemic.

We aimed:

  • to lift up voices of educators about their experiences during the crisis

  • to seek their ideas for redesign of public education that can withstand other mass disruptions to traditional schooling

  • to clarify how they would like to be involved in recovery planning in the near and long term

  • and to hear how the movement for racial justice has impacted their work

Through a combination of media, local organizing, and policy proposals, we will continue to work to advance these ideas and connect decisionmakers with educators in their local communities and across the country.

Now we have dozens of stories and thousands of educators of color surveyed around issues related to the global pandemic, racial uprising, and the work we must all do in our schools!
